Ielts speaking part 2 a photo that you like

IELTS Profi

It makes sense to prepare some written answers to some trickier part 2 questions. How would you deal with this topic?

give an example of a photo you like

Here is an answer with some gaps for you to consider:

“I like the family photo that sits on _____________ (where it is at the moment). It was taken in ___________, two weeks before I moved overseas (when it was taken). In that photo, my parents sit at the front while my brother and I _________________ , smiling (what you are doing). It truly captured the moment when my family spent happy time together, which also became the last time I saw them in person (why it is special). Because of that physical distance, I take this photo everywhere with me to feel the tangible connection with my family (why it’s important) “.

Try this yourself. You might find some of the following language useful for describing photographs:

Introduction

  • The photo/picture shows …
  • It was taken by/in …
  • It’s a black-and-white/coloured photo.

2. What is where?

  • In the foreground/background you can see …
  • In the foreground/background there is …
  • In the middle/centre there are …
  • At the top/At the bottom there is …
  • On the left/right there are …
  • Behind/In front of … you can see …
  • Between … there is …
