Ielts task 2 – arguing a point

An important part of IELTS, task 2 is argumentation. Try to write short arguments for these ideas:

There are convincing arguments both for an against children playing computer games.

There are convincing arguments both for and against online teaching.

There are convincing arguments both for and against the consumption of genetically modified food.

There are convincing arguments for and against the mining industry.

There are convincing arguments for and against vegetarianism.

You could use ‘on the one hand’; ‘on the other’ to introduce the two sides of the argument.

You could make comparisons using the following language.
