IELTS Writing – Academic and General
The writing section is considered to be one of the most challenging parts of the IELTS test. As a result, students tend to get a lower score in this part in comparison to the other parts.

Now, let’s move on to the differences between academic and general IELTS writing tests.
IELTS Academic – Writing
The writing test for the academic module has two tasks. The first task is to describe a graph, and the second task is to write an essay. You are given 1 hour to complete both tasks, and it is up to you how you will divide your time. For example, you can spend 25 minutes to describe the graph, and 35 minutes to write the essay. However, we recommend that you spend 20 minutes describing the graph, and 40 minutes writing the essay. IELTS General – Writing
The writing test for the general module has two tasks. The first task is a letter to write, and the second task is an essay to write. The essay is similar to the academic essay, but the questions are usually easier to answer.
Similar to the academic writing test, you are given 1 hour to complete both tasks. Like academic writing, we recommend that you spend 20 minutes on task 1 and 40 minutes on task 2. Furthermore, you can check out how to manage time in the writing assignment.
